Senior Software Engineer (Cloud & Data Infrastructure)

Janus Soft is seeking an elite Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, and scale robust cloud environments. In this role, you won't just be "managing servers"—you will be building automated, resilient, and secure infrastructure that supports high-stakes data processing and AI/ML workloads. You will bridge the gap between complex software engineering and mission-critical operations, ensuring our systems are performant, compliant, and ready for the challenges of 2026 and beyond.

Mandatory Skills

• Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (Required).

• CI/CD & Automation: Mastery of Jenkins for implementing and managing end-to-end CI/CD pipelines.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced proficiency with Terraform to manage complex cloud environments.

• Cloud Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with AWS core services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch).

• Containerization: Proven experience with Docker and/or Podman.

• Scripting: Strong proficiency in Bash and Python for automation and tool development.

• Database Management: Expertise in self-hosting databases, including installation, configuration, HA/DR, and performance tuning for PostgreSQL and MySQL.

• Monitoring & Observability: Hands-on experience with Prometheus/Alertmanager and AWS CloudWatch.

• System Integration: Demonstrated ability to integrate diverse software systems, including COTS/GOTS, open-source, and custom applications within AWS.

• Network & Security: Deep understanding of IAM policies, AWS architecture best practices, and secure networking.

• Version Control: Mastery of Git-based workflows and branching strategies.

Desired Skills

• Data Platforms: Experience managing Apache Spark, Trino, Apache Ranger, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Superset.

• Modern Architectures: Familiarity with Data Lakehouse patterns and microservices via API gateways.

• Security & Recovery: Experience with AWS Secrets Manager and comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) planning.

• AI/ML Support: Background in deploying infrastructure for AI/ML workloads or model serving.

• Optimization: Expertise in AWS cost optimization and performance scaling.

• Mentorship: Experience leading DevOps transformations and mentoring junior engineers in cloud best practices.

• NoSQL/Logging: Familiarity with DynamoDB, MongoDB, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
